Class

Levels

At Studio 22, we are excited to introduce a refreshed approach to class placement for the upcoming season. Our goal is to create the best possible learning environment for every dancer by grouping students based on technical ability, experience, and learning style—not just age.

This allows us to:

  • Provide more personalized instruction

  • Build confidence in each dancer

  • Keep classes engaging, fun, and appropriately challenging

  • Support steady, long-term growth

Please note that age ranges are guidelines, and placements may vary to ensure each dancer is set up for success.

Notes on Placement

  • Placements are carefully determined by our directors based on experience, ability, and overall readiness

  • Not all dancers progress at the same pace—and that’s okay!

  • Our priority is ensuring each dancer feels confident, challenged, and supported

If you have any questions about your dancer’s placement, we are always happy to help!

Intro to

Dance

age 2.5-4

Intro to dance is for our youngest dancers at ages 2.5-4 years of age.  This class is often a child's first experience in a classroom situation and teaches children not only dance fundamentals, but also classroom skills such as taking turns and following direction.  Watch as they develop balance, strength, coordination, and their fine and gross motor skills.

  • Dancers must be 2.5 by October 1

  • Many dancers remain in this level for two years

What to expect:
Class focuses on classroom structure, listening skills, and basic movement. Continuing in this class for a second year helps to  build confidence, independence, and a stronger understanding of how their body moves. Dancers often grow into leadership roles during their second year.

Combination & Minis
Classes

age 4-6

Combination & Mini's classes are for our dancers who are 4-6 years of age.  These classes continue to build dance fundamentals, creativity, and classroom skills.  Watch as they improve their balance, strength, coordination, and fine and gross motor skills, as well as their independence.

  • Dancers must be 4 by October 1 (up to ~6.5 years old)

  • Many dancers stay in this level for 2–3 years

Class options include:

  • Ballet/Jazz Combo

  • Ballet/Tap Combo

  • Mini Acro

  • Mini Hip Hop

What to expect:
Dancers explore movement styles in a fun, supportive setting.  Continuing in these classes for a second or third year helps to build confidence, independence, and a stronger understanding of how their body moves. Dancers often grow into leadership roles during the second and third years.
